Home Made Current Choke for Hex Beam

Home Made Current Choke for Hex Beam

Instead of opting for the DX Engineering Current Choke  DXE-FCC050-H05-A, I made my own. The Ferrite used is from Amidon part #FB-77-1024, they are fairly inexpensive and this setup can handle legal limit easy I put 6 on the LMR 400 type coax. By placing this near the feed point of the antenna you prevent unwanted RFI and feed line radiation. Easy enough, all it takes is a bit of heat shrink, the zip ties to hold the Ferrite’s in place and something to shrink the heat shrink with, try to avoid using an open flame, it will damage the heat shrink and you may not get 100% coverage.
